Following its season of Christmas festivities Caldicot Male Voice Choir dressed in festive jumpers, warm choir fleeces and treated to generous glasses of mulled wine, was delighted to sing by torchlight near the tree at Underwood on the evening of 12th December.
To a large watching crowd the choir, conducted by Musical Director Sian Hatton and Assistant Musical Director Shirley Anne James and accompanied by Olivia Dance and John Nicholson presented a range of its favourite Christmas songs opening with the rousing ‘Joy to the World’ and followed by the Johnny Mathis hit ‘When A Child is Born’ and well known ‘Mary’s Boy Child.
The audience enthusiastically joined in with the singing of ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’, ‘Silent Night’, ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ and ‘O little Town of Bethlehem’ when invited by Sian.
The choir finalised its programme with renderings of Christmas favourites ‘Casatchok’, ‘Silver Bells’, Shepherds Watch and Wise Men Wonder’ sung to the tune of Scarlet Ribbons and the humorous ‘The Twelve Days after Christmas’ telling what really happened to the Partridge in a Pear Tree and all the other Christmas presents given by a true love. The choir finalised with a Christmas Medley which including ‘Jingle Bells’ again joined in and thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
