Caldicot Male Voice Choir has separate but associated Cycling, Walking and Golf groups which throughout the year raise money for good causes. During 2024 the groups are holding several events to support St David’s Hospice, a local charity that supports end of life care.
Organised by chorister Tony Griffiths, Caldicot Male Voice Choir’s associated golf society the ‘Birdie Boys’, gathered on the 1st September at St. Pierre Golf Club for their annual Charity event.
Twenty-one golfers from the choir and friends, tee’d up on the Mathern Course for a fun Texas Scramble on an initially sunny day, which lasted a couple of hours before the round was completed in heavy rain and thunderstorms. A very close and competitive game was had with only five shots difference between all six teams.
The after-event dinner was held at the Indian Empire restaurant, where the golfers tucked into some exotic Indian dishes washed down with Indian beer.
A total of £225 was raised for the charity which will be added to previous events run by the choir’s cycling and walking clubs, bringing the total to date close to £1700.
