Birdie Boys enjoy Spanish Golf Weekend

While Caldicot Male Voice Choir’s main activity is choral singing it also has an associated cycle club and golfing wing called ‘The Birdie Boys’ which makes an annual golfing pilgrimage.  This year fourteen choristers and guest members took a very early flight out of Bristol Airport on Thursday 3rd October to arrive at a hotel in the Andalusian, southern Spanish town of Torremolinos  in late morning.  They took a walk around the town, sampling a few drinks at local bars before braving an afternoon dip in the freezing cold sea.

The following Friday morning  the Birdie Boys completed its first first golf event at the La Cala Resort, Asia course which was very challenging but was in beautiful condition on a hot day.

On Saturday, the ‘Boys’ travelled back to La Cala to take on the equally challenging America course for the doubles competition, won by choristers David Gould and Karl Gregory.

The third golf day saw just three of the group, brothers Alyn and Jason Dawe and Andy Yearsley who played the La Cala Europa course, again a tough challenge of golf while the rest of the party relaxed at the hotel and town.

There is no doubt that the Birdie Boys golfing choristers did not forget their singing voices by entertaining the locals and tourists each evening with a burst of afterglow singing thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.
