Caldicot Male Voice Choir was pleased to sing at the Tin Shed near the Huntsman Hotel in Shirenewton near Chepstow last June and so impressed the local audience that the manager Rob Davis invited the choir to present a range of Christmas songs and Carols at the Tin Shed on November 28th.
Conducted by Musical Director Sian Hatton and Assistant Musical Director Shirley Anne James and accompanied by Olivia Dance and John Nicholson the choir opened with the rousing Russian song Casatschok followed by a further ten items including Joy to the World, Mary’s Boy Child, Silver Bells, the amusing Carol Singers, the popular When a Child is Born made famous by Johnny Mathis and Carol of the Drum (The Little Drummer Boy) and including a Christmas Medley enthusiastically joined in by the audience. However that was not the end, the choir, after weeks of practice premiered the parody of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas with the humorous and witty ‘The Twelve Days after Christmas’ much to the delight of the audience.
The evening closed with a session of community Carol Singing joined in by all the choristers and patrons of the Tin Shed. A thoroughly enjoyable, quirky evening was had by all which truly embodied the spirit of Christmas.
