CHOIR PERFORMS TWO ANNUAL CONCERTS

Caldicot Male Voice Choir performed its Annual concert over two evenings on 5th and 6th April at its Choir Hall to full houses on both evenings.

Friday evening was a special concert for Vice Presidents, invited guests and families and friends of the choir and Saturday’s was open to the public. Both concerts were very well attended. Invited guest included Jessica Morden MP, John Griffiths MS, Su McConnell, Deputy Chairman of Monmouthshire CC and Maxine Mitchell, Mayor of Caldicot.

The Choir, conducted by Musical Director Siȃn Hatton and Assistant Musical Director Shirley Anne James and accompanied by Olivia Dance at her first Annual concert and John Nicholson (who also compered) performed four slots of a wide mix of favourites including African Prayer, Welsh songs including Anfonaf Angel and Tangnefeddwyr interspersed with spirituals and songs from the shows including Bring Him Home, You’ll Never Walk alone, This is the Moment and 76 Trombones. It also included songs it will be singing at the Royal Albert Hall on April 27th, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Kwmbayah and Verdi’s Speed Your Journey and O Gymru.

The superb guest artiste, mezzo soprano Rachel Williams, returning to the hall after her success at the Anniversary concert last year delighted both audiences with songs from the shows including Wishing You Were Somehow here Again, Someone Like You from Jekyll and Hyde, I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Never Enough from The Greatest Showman and Somewhere over the Rainbow.

Special presentations were made to Allan Saye, (honorary vice president) and long service awards to Peter Hanks (25 years) and Bob Doggett (50 years).
