Awards presented to three choristers at the Annual Concerts 2024

At Caldicot Male Voice Choir’s Annual Concert, the choir was delighted to present three awards.  The first was to retired baritone chorister Allan Saye who was conferred as an Honorary Vice President. He was presented with a certificate by the Choir’s President Richard Evans, Musical Director Siȃn Hatton and Senedd Member John Griffiths MS.  Allan, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday was totally surprised and thrilled to receive this unexpected tribute.

The second award was presented to top tenor Peter Hanks who was presented with a certificate and lapel badge to commemorate his twenty five years of continuous service with the choir.  Peter has often performed as a solo artiste with the choir on many occasions.

The third award was to top tenor Bob Doggett who has served an incredible 50 continuous years with the choir.  Bob’s time has included being a member of the committee for many years and one time chairman.  Bob was presented with a certificate and a solid gold lapel badge in the form of a treble clef on a stave by jointly, Musical Director Siȃn Hatton, Choir vice chairman John Nicholson and Jessica Morden MP to commemorate this achievement.

Bob is the first top tenor to reach this milestone and he joins the ranks of the late Colin Jones (second tenor), retired bass Bill Nash (now 101 and bass John Evans, baritones David Gould and Peter Heslop who have completed 50 years> The latter three are still singing with the choir.

Many congratulation, llongyfarchiadau to all three choristers on receiving well deserved awards and tributes.
