Accompanist Stephen Berry Bids Farewell

At Choir practice on Monday 27th February, the Choir assembled to say farewell to accompanist Stephen Berry who is retiring from the Choir after nearly 16 years.

It was Stephen’s wish to once again accompany the Choir for some of his favourites including Benedictus, Calon Lan, The Last Farewell, The Prayer, Rachie, Llef, Y Tangnefeddwyr and finally Anfonal Angel dedicated to his wife Gillian who was also in attendance.

During the interval, Choir chairman Graham Hughes presented Stephen with a certificate to mark his significant achievements with the Choir, a slate plaque bearing the Choir badge and the Welsh Dragon and a CD of all the recordings made by the Choir of songs sung in Welsh. HIs wife Gillian was also presented with a bouquet of flowers as a tribute to her long standing patience while Stephen performed for the Choir.

Stephen’s accomplished association with the Choir has seen him play on two cruise ships, tours to Cornwall, Scotland, to Poland in 2019 and in innumerable concerts throughout the UK.

Stephen will be greatly missed as accompanist and the Choir is hoping to recruit a suitable successor in the near future.
