Due to the incredible fund raising efforts of choir members, particularly its associated cycle club, Côr Meibion Caldicot Cycle Club and its Golf Society, the Birdie Boys, enough money has been raised to purchase a superior version of this bed for Annalese Gosling. Annalese is a five year old who lives in Caldicot and suffers from the crippling, incurable disease FOP (fibrodisplasia ossificans progressiva). This cruel disease is progressive and means that should any injury occur the flesh is converted to bone and the sufferer could eventually grow a second incapacitating skeleton.
This bed is not available on the NHS and has to be purchased privately. The choir is proud that it and its supporters have raised the funds to help Annalese. A superior, single sized bed has been purchased with extra padding and adjustments which should last Annalese for many years. All the cushioning and mattress will be manufactured in glorious pink as well! It will be delivered and installed by BaKare Beds in about 6 weeks time. The Choir raised a total of £9474 (excluding gift aid) for its nominated charities alone last year and the excess funds will be passed to Sparkle, a Newport based charity based at the Serennu Centre in High Cross which aims to support disadvantaged children to lead a life enjoyed by most other children and teenagers.
