The Choir has a loyal group of ladies who do their best to support us and show that the Choir is not just about the men. We are extremely fortunate that we now have an active fund raising team which has organised a number of special events since its formation last year. We are also fortunate that thanks to the fantastic efforts of choristers and many others during the 1990’s we have a fabulous Choir Hall in which to hold events, concerts and social evenings. However, this costs an awful lot of money to maintain and if we are to continue to support our charity work we have to fund raise to support the upkeep and maintenance of the hall.
However, we do have a lot of fun in our fund raising events and not least, on Friday 29th January it was the turn of the ladies to have their own special event. The hall was packed with about 150 ladies who were entertained with bingo, raffles and other activities hosted by local girl Sandra Lemon. More entertainment of a raucous nature was also provided by comedienne ‘January’.
This was also an opportunity for a few of the more extrovert choristers, chairman Mark Stocker, secretary Jeff Williams and entertainment manager Ron Powell to show a different side to their character and bring out their feminine side. Choristers Karl Gregory, Alyn Dawe, Stephen Davies and Anthony Howells turned waiters for the evening and were then put up for auction by Sandra. Many thanks to Jeff Williams, David Kirton and Debbie Watkins for their tremendous efforts behind the bar and to all the choristers who helped set up the hall and cleared up afterwards. A special mention must go to Sharon Davies and Sue Murphy for all their hard work in organising this event and for all their efforts on the night to ensure it was a great success.
A fabulous night was enjoyed by all and I’ve put together a selection of photos taken by Colleen on the night. These and more can be seen on Facebook as well.
