As most of you know by now, the Choir will be entering the International Eisteddfod at Abergavenny in August this year and we are busy practising the pieces we will be singing. I can’t let you know these yet and we’ve all been sworn to secrecy.
There will be lots of activities in the coming months, not least is our concert in the castle with Monmouth and Chepstow Male Voice Choirs in June. It’s the first time we’ve ever sung with either choir. Wynne Evans will be there as well. This will be huge.
Last year we recorded Laudamus and this has been put on a CD which is a compilation of many of the Gwent choirs who are participating in the Eisteddfod. This will go on sale shortly at £10. All money raised will help the Eisteddfod fund.
As part of the fun leading up to the Eisteddfod we were asked by the organisers to dress in red at practice last Monday and nearly 90% of the Choir dressed in a motley collection of red tops to join in the fun. Other participants in the Eisteddfod were also asked at the same time and we are looking forward to the local press coverage. In advance I’ve put up a few photos of the choristers on the night. These can be seen on our Facebook page as well.
