On Sunday 7th June, 59 choristers and the musical team of Siân Hatton, Shirley Anne James and Stephen Berry assembled at the 550 seat Wyastone Concert Hall near Ganarew, a village about 3 miles north east of Monmouth, in the glorious, sunlit setting of the Wye Valley to record Laudamus, popularly known as ‘Pen Calfaria’

This recording was originally floated as a commercial venture by David Davies MP.  This recording is, in conjunction with those of other Monmouthshire choirs, is to be used in an assemblage of songs to celebrate Welsh Music into a CD.  This was recorded by Rhys Ward of Nimbus Records which have been based at the Wyastone Business Centre since 1975.  It is hoped that the CD will be released before Christmas and will of course be on sale at the National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny in 2016.  T

We were also delighted to see Huw Edwards, former MP of Monmouth and a good friend of our Choir.  Huw was there in his capacity as chairman of Monmouth Male Voice Choir who are also contributing to this recording.

The choir is also proud to have been invited to sing at the Proclamation of the Eisteddfod at the Bardic parade in Caldicot on June 27th. at about 12 o’clock.
