On Saturday 7th March the choir is once again, after a two year respite going to visit the historic medieval Cotswold town of Cirencester.  Most of you will remember our many bi-annual visits, organised by Vice -presidents Alan and Margaret Moss, to Bingham Hall with its glorious chandeliers to sing to raise money for local charities.

This time however, we have been invited by Cirencester Male Voice Choir to share a concert with them at the magnificent Parish Church of St John’s in the town centre.  This is one of the largest churches in the country, often called the ‘Cathedral of the Cotswolds’ and is a fabulous setting for our concert.  We are extremely privileged to be invited.

Formed by its President, Phil Kerton, in 2009, Cirencester Male Voice Choir’s main aims are to provide a place for men of all ages and ability to gather and sing, and in the process raise money for good causes. The Choir aims to produce concerts of the highest quality – earning the right to perform alongside The London Welsh Male Voice Choir at the Royal Albert Hall in 2012 – whilst also ensuring singing is fun and enjoyable, and have in the past won the title ‘Happiest Choir’ at a national competition.  The choir is led by its very capable music team, Musical Director Jules Addison, and Accompanist Tom Graff.  We are invited because on a previous visit to Bingham Hall, members of the choir were so impressed by our performance that they said they’d would learn a lot from us and would be delighted if we could appear with them

This concert, you will remember was scheduled for last year but had to be cancelled at short notice because of bad weather.  Because of the opportunity to sing in a wonderful venue which is capable of seating 800 in all, members of the choir are urged to make every effort to come to Cirencester and show them what a magnificent choir we really are.  After all, it’s what you joined the choir for, isn’t it?
