Last night at practice, new chorister Chris Nolan trod the well worn path, almost unnoticed, to the back room with Siân to take his second voice test. Choosing to sing the bass part of Dafydd y Garreg Wen, he emerged to the announcement that he sang it perfectly and is now eligible to sing in practice. The Gala concert on September 6th will be his first.
Good luck with that, mate – no pressure then.
Ever since Bristolian Chris joined us (he now lives next to John Wyson in Caldicot, who introduced him) his commitment and enthusiasm for the choir has shone through and we’re sure that he will make a valuable contribution for many years. He is the second youngest member of the choir, but won’t disclose his age (he’s under forty). He is also a keen cyclist and is now an active rider with the Cycle Club.
Regrettably though, it was announced that newcomer David (Dai) John has decided he will not be able to continue with the choir due to family, charity work and work commitments. Dai came to the choir to give us a presentation on the work of Prostate Cymru, our nominated charity this year and as a keen musician he decided he would join us, but sadly he has decided that he cannot give the choir the commitment it requires. Thank you Dai for giving it a go and we wholly respect your decision. Dai was also active in our Cycle Club and took part in the Fishguard to Caldicot ride in July. Very best wishes for the future and please keep in touch.
