Creu Gwir fel gwydr o ffwrnais  awen, (Creating truth like glass from the furnace of inspiration) In these Stones Horizons Sing” reads the transparent frontage of the magnificent Wales Millenium Centre in Cardiff Bay and on Saturday 5th April, Caldicot Male Voice Choir certainly added the white heat of inspiration and immense choral singing to reach the far horizons of the Centre while performing on the Glanfa Stage.

The Glanfa stage provides an opportunity for artists to perform, while the public comes into the Centre for refreshment before their concert entertainment.  This unique opportunity to entertain while visitors coming in to see the musical ‘Wicked’, the untold story of the Witches of Oz, was enthusiastically taken up by the Choir.  The waiting theatregoers were astounded into near silence while enjoying their coffee and cakes as the choir of more than 62 choristers opened up with songs from Les Misérables, Welsh classics, Laudamus andd O Iesu Mawr and further songs from the worlds of musical and film such as The Rhythm of Life and Somewhere Out There.  Conducted by Siân Hattan and Shirley Ann James and accompanied by Stephen Berry and John Nicholson, the Choir sang resolutely for an hour to an enthralled audience who thoroughly appreciated our appearance.

Without a doubt, the performance of the choir was ‘WICKED’.   You can see some of the choir’s performances on Facebook and You Tube (click on the link You tube link to view).  The performance was also video’d by the Millenium Centre and will be put on their own web site later .  Click on the link  Wales Millenium Centre to keep an eye out for it.

Afterwards, many of the choir retired to the Eli Jenkins’ pub nearby to further provide the population of Cardiff with more ‘afterglow’ singing entertainment.  Don’t stay out too late, boys. The bus goes at a quarter past nine!
