Choristers Work on Hall

Our choir is extremely fortunate to have one of the best purpose built Choir Halls in the country as a result of considerable effort by members in the 1990’s. This has meant that the choir is able to contribute in a much larger way to the local community and has provided a fabulous legacy with which to go into the future.  The Hall is available not only to the choir, but also to the wider community for charity events, wedding receptions, social events and parties etc.

The slight downside is that the hall has to be maintained in a pristine condition and to this end about 13 choristers and Fran Francis (Roger’s wife) turned up last Saturday to carry out improvements and repair work to the fabric of the building. Supplied with copious amounts of tea, coffee and bacon sarnies (staple diet), the team set about with admirable enthusiasm to repair drains, guttering (trewens in Wenglish), replace the kitchen door, clean windows and sills inside and out, clean and polish the floor and even shine up the glass on the pictures. The choir has recently acquired a hoist and Jason Dawe, with a head for heights and trembling legs replaced flickering fluorescent tubes which have been annoying us for months (strobe effect does funny things).  Many thanks to Leon for getting the hoist, but he will miss climbing the ladder!

Many thanks for all your efforts, lads (and lady).  The hall looks stunning and it is now up to all of us to keep it that way.  There is still a lot to do.  Keep posted!
