This choir is really fortunate to have our dedicated and committed musical team. While Siân, Steve and John took well-deserved holiday breaks, Shirley Ann carried on with exemplary patience and skill to keep practices going for the past two weeks. Shirley Ann also acquired the services of her long-standing friend, highly talented, but modest musician Gwyn Morgans who accompanied us skilfully on the piano through three practices and a wedding (not four funerals!). How can we forget Shirley Ann and Gwyn leading us through Vivaldi’s Gloria at what seemed to be twice our normal speed as a lesson in needing to watch the conductor? It worked! Shirley Ann, you’re just too good to be true, can’t take my eyes off-a-you!
Gwyn travelled from his home in Peterston-super-Ely on the other side of Cardiff to be with us. An ex- pupil of Brecon High School and now a teacher, Gwyn is an Honours graduate in Music from Cardiff University. He has played (and sang) for the BBC, has conducted Chantorion Llandaff and South Glamorgan Schools Choir and accompanied a number of Male Voice Choirs, including Brecon Male Choir, our guests at the Gala Concert last year. As a popular accompanist in the Bridgend, Cowbridge and Cardiff areas , Gwyn’s tastes and demanded talents in music include a wide range of genres from choral to classical, pop and rock and we (not for the first time) are extremely fortunate that he was able to find time in his busy shedule to accompany us for the past two weeks. Please keep in touch, Gwyn (maybe become a friend on Facebook?) and we’d always be delighted to see you again. Judging by the smile on your face, we’re sure that you’d welcome the opportunity.

Lyn
