Following an appeal by Chairman Leon Jones to the choristers to enquire through contacts, friends, businesses and the local community whether any could support the choir by sponsorship or by donation.
Many supporters in the past have contributed significant amounts to help the choir in its role of supporting other charities and keeping alive the tradition of male voice choir singing or by funding the maintenance of its magnificent choir hall and the choir is extremely grateful for the help received.
Following the appeal, second tenor Richard (Peggy) Mount approached his brother Paul to see if he could help. Paul stood up to the mark and made a huge contribution of £5000 presented on the 10th October to Chairman Leon Jones and Musical Director Sian Hatton. Paul and his wife Alison made the trip from their home in Gloucester to attend the choir hall to make what is probably the largest amount donated by an individual.
With agreement from Paul part of the donation will be used to improve the aging stage lighting and part conversion from halogen to more environmentally friendly LED lights.
Many thanks for this magnificent donation Paul, it really is appreciated and it helps the choir enormously to provide improved facilities for not only the choir but the local community.
