A few weeks ago John Antell walked through the door, sat and listened for a little while and passed his first voice test to join us as a top tenor. We are delighted to report that last night at our Open Evening, after considering it for a while, his brother Nick came in to listen and like so many before went into the back room with Siân and emerged as a top tenor as well! What goes on in there that our tenor section has increased by nearly 40% in the past year and the choir as a whole has increased by 23%?
Even more amazing is that most of our new members are in their forties or early fifties so the future’s bright for Caldicot Male Voice Choir! Rosy if not Orange!
The breakdown is now 20 top tenors, 17 second tenors, 24 baritones and 19 second basses. We are now up to 80 members! With these numbers the choir is far better balanced as well and we’re getting 65 to 70 at every practice.
John and Nick’s father (also John) was a 2nd tenor in the choir for many years, but sadly he passed away about 5 years ago.
We wish all our newcomers a long and happy time with our Choir.
