Caldicot Male Voice Choir is proud to support many charities where it can and at our Open Evening on March 20th to support Prostate Cymru, we were also pleased to host a presentation by The Monmouthshire Province of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, or more popularly known as The Buffs to Macmilllan Cancer Support charity.  Although only a small Order it has raised thousands of pounds for many needy organisations including the Royal Gwent Hospital, St. David’s Hospice, Severn Search and Rescue and many more.

The Buffs is not a secret society but is a charitable organisation founded in the 1820’s to raise funds for needy causes.  It also provides care for widows with young children by donating birthday and Christmas gifts, family holidays, pocket money and savings.  It also runs and maintains two convalescent homes.

This past year it has been pleased to raise funds by events and voluntary contributions for The Macmillan Cancer Support which aims to help and improve the lives of those suffering from cancer in many different ways (left click on the link Macmillan Cancer Support” for more information).

At our Choir Hall, baritone chorister and a member of the Buffs, Mervyn Roberts, was pleased to present a cheque for £1261  to Glenys Day representing Macmillan Cancer Support as the total sum raised.  Caldicot Male Voice Choir is proud that by the proceeds of a concert at the hall last year to help the Buffs, it contributed about £400 to this total.   The evening was a total surprise to Glenys and to be, in her own words, “in such wonderful company on a splendid occasion.  I have had a wonderful evening, so unexpected.  Thank you to everyone who has supported the Buffs in raising this magnificent amount”.    We’re all glad to have helped, Glenys.

If you are reading this and involved in fund raising for good causes and charities and would like the choir to perform a concert for you, please contact us through the CONTACTS page of this web site.  We will do our best to help.  We do not charge for bona fide charitable events other than transport costs.
