The committee of Caldicot Male Voice Choir was delighted to have secured a subsidy from the British Heart Foundation; in order to help purchase a potentially lifesaving defibrillator.
The equipment (Zoll AED Plus Defibrillator) was installed on the outside of the choir hall, facing the Caldicot Leisure Centre car park. The defibrillator is available for use throughout the day and night. It is capable of saving the life of anybody suffering from potential cardiac failure. In an emergency, members of the public within the environs of the leisure centre, the Choir Hall, the Cricket Club, the skateboarding facility and also all local residents will be directed to the defibrillator by an emergency service telephone operator.
In order to facilitate the usage of the AED in the public domain, a vandal proof security coded case was purchased by the Choir and the equipment was registered with the Welsh Ambulance Service by Choir Secretary, Jeff Williams.
