Ex soldier Chris swells the Baritone ranks

Last Monday 4th July, Chris Richards came into the choir hall with his neighbour, tenor Nigel Antell who’d been nagging him for months to join us, to have a listen and meet a few of us.  Even though we were practicing hard to learn the new songs that we will be singing in the Eisteddfod this year, he stayed right through the evening and he told me afterwards that he thoroughly enjoyed it

Chris, who’d recently retired from the army and was based at Beachley was looking for something to do in his retirement, as many of our choristers did, so on Thursday after just one visit he decided to go into the back room and go up and down the scales in front of Sian.  On emerging and still smiling it was announced by Sian, to a great round of applause that Chris joins the ranks of the baritones.  Chris is the 5th new member to be recruited since our Annual concert in April to bring our numbers back up to 84.  When our newcomers pass their second voice tests the choir will be nicely balanced with 20 top tenors, 20 2nd tenors, 24 baritones and 20 2nd basses to create a fabulous sound.

Welcome to our choir, Chris.  We all wish you a long and happy association with us and we are sure that you will thoroughly enjoy your new hobby.
