Not long ago we welcomed Alan Loy into the ranks of the choir as a second tenor and last Thursday we were delighted to greet his son Richard who came to visit us to see what his father had let himself in for. He’s only got your best interests at heart Alan.
He was so impressed that like many others before him, he followed Siân, our Musical Director into the back room to try his first voice test. After sounding out a few notes he returned to rounds of applause as Siân announced from the podium that we have new member, who, like his Dad is also a second tenor. Richard has a long way to come from Sebastopol near Pontypool to practice which shows his commitment and enthusiasm to join us, particularly as there are a number of male voice choirs who are much closer. With Richard this adds up to four new members since the beginning of April this year.
Welcome to our ranks Richard. At 6′ 4″ in height you are sure to stand out. We hope you have a long and enjoyable association with our choir.
Alan and Richard are not the only father and son partnership in the choir. We mustn’t forget 2nd tenor Anthony Howells and his son , Baritone Craig.
