American Tapestry Choir St Peters Cardiff

On June 30th Caldicot Male Voice Choir will be forsaking its usual practice night and interrupting its preparation for its entry to the National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny in August this year to travel to Cardiff to perform with the USA Tapestry Choir in the fabulous Victorian setting of St Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.

The Tapestry Choir consists of over 100 voices drawn from all over the USA who reach London by 13 different flights on 26th June.  Although they have been preparing for this tour for several months, many will meet for the first time and rehearsals start almost as soon as they step off the planes.  On their 12 day tour, organised by UK Travel Designers in conjunction with American based Harmony International, they will be performing at venues in Dublin, London (twice), Normandy and Cardiff.  The choir is conducted by composers Joe Martin and Lloyd Larson and features members of the incredible Manassas Chorale from Virginia, directed by Becky Verner.  Their repertoire includes many popular and traditional choral pieces.

Caldicot Male Voice Choir is one of the leading male voice choirs in Wales and has toured in the past to the USA (twice), Canada, Germany, Austria, Holland and all over the UK.  The choir is proud to have sung for The Queen at Buckingham Palace on the occasion of her Golden Jubilee.  It was also the first male voice choir to sing on two P & O cruise ships.  The Choir draws on a wide repertoire of not only traditional Welsh music but also songs from theatre and film as well as opera and classics.  Previous winners of several competitive Eisteddfodau, the choir is conducted by Siân Hatton and Shirley Anne James and accompanied by Stephen Berry and John Nicholson.  It is proud of its tradition, through its concerts and other events, of raising several hundreds of thousands of pounds for both National and local charities.

Proceeds from the concert at St Peter’s will be donated to the Choir’s nominated charity for 2016, The Motor Neurone Disease Association (South East Wales branch), based in Cardiff to help with the purchase of much needed equipment and resources for sufferers of this terrible disease.  Tickets will be available at the door at £7 (£5 concessionary).  The doors open at 7-00pm. and the concert starts at 7-30pm.
