Our next concert will be held at All Saints Church, Faringdon, Oxfordshire on Saturday 20th September. Click on the link to visit their web-site to find out more.
Many of you will remember that we sang here on 4th June 2011 to a packed house although it is a narrow church and we were squeezed in last time.
There has been a church on this site since the 12th century, the south door is a marvellous 12th century piece of wrought iron.
The main body of the church is 13th century, the organ was installed in 1969 and has 1390 pipes.
The ring of 8 bells was installed in 1926 and a unique feature is that the tower was partly destroyed by Cromwell’s troops in the Civil War.
The concert is being held to support Church funds and will commence at 7-00pm.
Baritone Tony Griffiths will remember this as being the venue for his first concert and he made such an impact that they want to see him again (not to mention the rest of us). Apparently they can’t wait to see us all again.
I remember that on our last visit, the attendance was disappointingly low but Shirley Anne and Stephen Berry and those who came ensured we gave a quality performance. Let’s get as many as possible to this one, lads.
