Chorister Bill Nash rarely misses a practice, travelling from Bristol twice a week to be with us, but tonight, Thursday 9th January he was badly missed. Why? He was celebrating his 91st birthday so he had a pretty good excuse. Bill has been a male voice chorister for over 50 years, starting in the tenors all that time ago but now a bass as he matured. Always willing to impart his experience to younger octagenarians in our midst, Bill has a fine voice and his expertise and knowledge of choral singing is legendary in our Choir. Is there an older active chorister still around? Please let us know.
On the same evening, we celebrated that two new choristers, John Antell and Peter Williams both tenors and new to the Choir, nervously prepared to enter the back room with Musical Director Siân Hatton and emerged with smiling faces as full choristers after passing their second voice tests. Being part of our choir means a huge commitment by individuals to practice and attend concerts and we are delighted you have taken the plunge. Well done both and we look forward to you singing in concerts with us. You’re both very welcome.
We’ve heard on the grapevine that another four potential members may join us soon. The word is getting out that our choir is worth joining, so why not come along to a practice evening on a Monday or a Thursday? You would be made very welcome, there’s no commitment to join and you may be surprised by what we do!
