Frank Thomas, Tenor, Passes Away

In Memoriam:

The choir were all deeply saddened to hear of the passing away after a long illness, of Frank Thomas peacefully at his home on Tuesday 30th July.  Frank was long serving, stalwart member of the choir as a second tenor and committee member before his illness forced him to relinquish his singing place in the front row. He was a visionary and was instrumental in setting up the choir’s first web-site, we believe only the third to be set up by a choir and he spent many painstaking hours re-designing the choir’s badge, pixel by pixel when software to do this was unavailable.  His badge design has been used for several years and still proudly adorns many of our displays and much of our casual clothing.

Always a quiet but extremely popular chorister, Frank was dedicated and loyal. The choir was proud to install him as an honorary vice-president three years ago in recognition of his services to Côr Meibion Caldicot.  Frank will be greatly missed and our lives have been made poorer at his passing.  Our deepest condolences and sympathies go out to his wife, Jean and all his family at this distressing time.  Our thoughts are with you.  Poignantly and sadly, the choir were privileged to have sang today at the wedding of his grand-daughter and daughter of chorister Gareth Thomas, Bethan, to Gareth Knight in his home village of Magor at the chapel where his funeral will take place.

The funeral will take place at Magor Ebenezer Baptist Chapel on Thursday 8th August at 11-30am followed by internment at Magor churchyard.
