Choir to Sing at the Senedd

 

Côr Meibion Caldicot is delighted and privileged to be invited to entertain the Welsh Assembly and its visitors as part of the St David’s Day celebrations on Thursday, March 1st, 2012 at 12-30pm.  To be welcomed to such a  prestigious venue  is a measure of the high regard in which the quality of our Choir is held by the people of Wales.

 

The Choir, conducted by Siân Hatton accompanied by Gavin Parry will present a portfolio of favourite modern and traditional pieces, entirely in Welsh, drawn from its extensive repertoire.

 

The Senedd or Welsh Assembly Building is situated at the heart of Cardiff Bay and was opened by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on March 1st 2006.  Environmentally designed using about 1000 tonnes of  Welsh slate and completely enclosed by glass, the three floors of the building comprise: the Neuadd (entrance hall) with its’ funnel feature and ceiling of Welsh oak, the Siambr (debating chamber), circular in design and seating 60 Assembly members. the Oriel ((Gallery) on the second floor from which the public can view the chamber, visit the shop and exhibition and the Cwrt (Courtyard) on the ground floor which includes a members’ tea room, media briefing room and access to the three committee rooms.
