Caldicot Male Voice Choir’s associated golf and cycle club supported dementia charity Alzheimer’s Society Cymru during 2025, and on 5th February 2026 was pleased to present a cheque to Alzheimer’s Society Cymru with a promotional cheque for £5072 at the Choir Hall in Caldicot.
Events included a year-long cycling, running and walking challenge with 34 entries, a 15 mile ‘Memory Walk’ around Cardiff, a charity concert at the Choir Hall, a Llandovery cycling weekend, a quiz night organised by Jayne and Rob Stallard, a golf tournament and a Christmas party/pantomime filmed by Lyn and Colleen Gauntlett which all contributed to raising the contribution. Lots of thanks go to the organising committee of Tony Griffiths, Nick Dance, Grahame Morden and Rob Stallard, members of the Panto cast, Caldicot Choir choristers, friends and family who took part and contributed to the charity.
Alzheimer’s Society Regional Fundraiser Charlie Sloper, who collected the cheque, said: “We are so grateful that Caldicot Male Choir have chosen to support Alzheimer’s Society. Each hour people generously give to fundraise for us, every event they take part in, every pound they donate, they’re making a life-changing difference to people living with dementia.
Alzheimer’s Society provides vital support to people living with dementia, funds groundbreaking research and campaigns to make dementia the priority it should be. It will take a society to beat dementia.
“There are around a million people living with dementia in the UK including 50,000 in Wales. We all have a role to play in ending the devastation dementia causes. We simply can’t reach everyone who needs us without the continued support of our incredible fundraisers like Caldicot Male Choir.”
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, providing help and hope to everyone affected by dementia – past, present and future. It helps people make the most of life with dementia, supporting them through some of the hardest and most frightening times.
During 2026 the Choir’s associated sport clubs are raising funds to support SARA , the Severn Estuary Rescue Association charity. If you would like to support it please contact the choir. Over the past 12 years the choir’s sport clubs have raised over £60,000 for charities and good causes.
