Over the past few years significant and necessary improvements and renovations have been made to Caldicot Choir Hall and several choristers have put in many hours of hard work to complete the upgrades, particularly to the roof and doors.
There has also been major interior decorating work recently to update the original colours of 1996 when the hall was opened.
The work is nearing an end and the latest project has been the replacement of the 25 year old bar. The bar was very dated and not up to modern standards so a team of chorister volunteers consisting of Leon Jones, Tony Howells, Paul Thomas and Russ Woodward took on the major project, putting in many hours after their normal work to replace it. Needless to say several other choristers assisted and supported over the weeks in re–painting, cleaning, tea making and restocking.
The project was magnificently supported by Llandaff Laminates who donated the worktops, S.D. Sealants of Caldicot for finishing materials, Critchcraft of Chepstow for supplying tiles, grout and adhesives and Robert Price building suppliers for a donation of wood. The choir is also grateful to Glamorgan Breweries Ltd. for refitting the pipework and taps.
After about a month of continuous work by the team, the bar was opened on 11th October just in time for the joint concert with Hereford Police Male Voice Choir on 13th October.
This was a truly mammoth project which showed that by working together major renovation and facility improvements can be achieved and the team and supporting choristers can be congratulated on an incredible achievement.
The Choir Hall is a magnificent building and is a wonderful asset not only for Caldicot Male Voice Choir but also to the Caldicot and surrounding communities. For more information please look at the web site www.caldicotmalevoicechoir.co.uk
