Next Event – Gala Concert

Caldicot Male Voice Choir has invited, to what promises again to be a wonderful evening’s entertainment, Brecon and District Male Choir (Côr Meibion Aberhonddu a’r Cylch) as its Guests to the Annual Gala Concert. The Brecon choir is conducted by Lynnette Thomas, the sister of our own Shirley Ann James, and is accompanied by Aled Hopton.   The choir is also delighted and thrilled to invite Holly Holyoake as Guest Solo Artist.   An International award winner, Holly is recognised as a very talented, young soprano who for several years, has been a loyal and always very welcome supporter of Caldicot Male Voice Choir.

As well as conducting Caldicot Male Voice Choir, Siân Hatton will, in her own inimitable style, compère the evening’s performance.

We do hope you will make every effort to support this concert especially as the evening is dedicated to the memory of Roy Shuck, our long-standing Secretary, who sadly passed away in May this year.

Frank Thomas

Everyone at practice last night was really pleased and happy to see Frank pay us a brief visit. Frank has been unable to attend practices and concerts due to ill-health for some time and last night was made really special in that in recognition of his long term commitment and service to the choir, our President Mr Richard Evans, with the full approval of everyone, asked Frank if he would accept the position of Honorary Life-time Vice-President.

Frank, in addtion to his many years as a dedicated member of  the choir, was also instrumental in setting up and organising the choir’s first web-site until his recent ill-health .

Our New Web-Site

From ‘The Libretto’ – August 2011

Our new web-site has been up and running for a few weeks now and is still very much in its infancy.  Tony Griffiths and Graham ‘Spike’ Hughes have worked extremely hard and done a tremendous job in setting this up and it is now ready for your input (forgive the computer jargon). In addition to Spike and Tony, Lyn Gauntlett has also been volunteered onto the web-site Administration Team.

We can advertise events, tell stories, write biographies and histories, play our music, show an art or photo gallery, link to other web-sites, even open a shop – the list is almost endless.

Our web-site is slightly different in that it is also a ‘Blog’ site.  This means that anyone can make their own comments and suggestions, leave messages and express opinions in the Comments boxes.  Obviously rules will apply to content because the site is open to everyone in the world.

For this to succeed as an impressive web-site that will not only be informative but also inspire more to take an interest in us, we need continuous support from all involved with the choir; from the musical team, choristers, vice-presidents and supporters.  So if you have any ideas of what you’d like on the site, or would like to give us an article or photograph or relate an experience from the past, then please let one of us (Tony, Spike or Lyn) know.  Everything will be considered.  It is your web-site – so please use it.
