The Choir was delighted that Shân accepted our invitation to perform with us at our 50th Anniversary Concert on April 13th 2013. Pictured here with Bass chorister Karl Gregory during her performance of ‘The Laughing Song’, Shân performed a total of eight items to fully captivate and enthrall the audience of over 500.
Welsh personality, Shân Cothi is a versatile performer in both classical and music theatre repertoire and is an experienced actress, television and radio presenter in Wales. She began her career as a music teacher, but winning the Blue Riband for the best classical soloist at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 1995 prompted her to become a professional singer. Her career as a singer has spanned a range of music styles from opera, oratorio, music theatre, jazz, welsh song to contemporary music. She has performed throughout the world in a variety of venues from the Wales Millennium Centre to Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, from the Ritz- Carlton Hotel, San Francisco to the Kowloon Shanghai Hotel in Hong Kong. Shân performed the role of Carlotta in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End production of The Phantom of the Opera for fifteen months in the West End, London. Her self-titled music television series for S4C won a BAFTA award was nominated for the best music programme in the Montreux Festival. | Claire Lees |  |
The choir performed a concert at the Bingham Hall in Cirencester on September 29th 2012 and was delighted to be supported by the charming, talented young soprano Claire Lees. Prior to gaining an honours music degree from the Birmingham Conservatoire, Claire was for six years a member of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. In 2010 she won first prize in the prestigious Delius Prize and has performed in several operatic roles. She is a member of the renowned choir Ex Cathedra under the direction of Jeffery Skidmore and has appeared in the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. Taking a break from her music studies she will again be singing at Thursford as first soprano from November 3rd to December 21st this year. The Choir was delighted to welcome Huw as Guest Artist at its Annual Concert in April 2012. A talented Bass-Baritone, Huw has won a number of National Eisteddfod awards including the Blue Ribbon award (under 25’s) in 1999 and again (over 25’s) at Ebbw Vale in 2010. | Rhys Meirion |  |
In April 2011 the Choir was pleased to invite Rhys Meirion as Solo Artist at the Annual Concert. An ex-headmaster, Rhys is an outstanding tenor and is known as one of the Three Welsh Tenors. To find out more about Rhys, click on the link to his website at Rhys Meirion.
Rhys appeared with us again at teh Annual Concert in 2016 as part of the Three Welsh Tenors with Aled Hall and Aled Wyn Davies. He also appeared with us again with Shan Cothi and Aled Wyn Davies at the Annual Concert in 2017. |

| Holly Holyoake |  |
At the Gala Concert in September 2011, Holly Holyoake, a long standing supporter of Caldicot Male Voice Choir since her public singing debut with us at the tender age of fourteen, gave memorable renditions of Ave Maria, There’s a Place for Us and Time to Say Goodbye in her fabulous soprano voice. She also joined the choir in singing the solo parts of Can You Feel the Love Tonight (from the Lion King Musical) and O Gymru.
We were honoured that Holly also sang with the Choir at the funeral service for Roy Shuck in 2011. |

| Emily Rooke |  |
At the Bromyard Concert in July 2011 the Choir and audience were delighted to listen to the enchanting singing of Emily Rooke. Emily is a pupil at Queen Elizabeth Humanities College in Bromyard and has taken part in many concerts and dramas. She is also a member of the Conquest Youth Theatre and has played a number of leading roles including Blousey Brown in Bugsy Malone. In 2012 Emily plans to continue her studies in Music, Dance and English at 6th form college. |

| Glenna Hatton |  |
Once again the Choir was privileged to be joined by Glenna Hatton as Guest Artiste at the Gala Concert in 2010. Glenna studied singing at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and at the Northern College of Music under David Johnston. She is from a talented Tredegar musical family which includes her sister Siân. Glenna has performed all over the British Isles and is three times winner of the Gold Medal at the Porthcawl Eisteddfod. A Licentiate of Trinity College of Music, London, Glenna is a succesful teacher and lives in Cardiff. |
