  1. FAO: Musical Director/ Director

    Hello Siân Hatton,

Thank you for the choral work that you have been doing. My name is Keisha Grant and I am Artistic Director and Choreographer of Keneish Dance. I’d like to propose a collaboration of ‘African Sanctus’ by David Fanshawe. Keneish Dance delivered choreography for African Sanctus when we were first approached by Sheffield Oratorio Chorus to perform with them and deliver some outreach work around the African Sanctus themes for an event and performance in August 2018.

We are creating a current version for City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for 14th June at Symphony Hall in Birmingham as part of their special centenary celebrations. We are then aiming to use our much-deserved hard work for repeated performances. As such Keneish Dance would like to propose this collaboration with your choir.

My aims are always to embody and express the full emotions and intricacies of a musical choral score, and to transcend genres to create a universal language that’s authentic, honest but is sophisticatedly composed and organised. I specialise and trained in Contemporary, Jazz and African Dance.

Some of my previous choreographic commissions have included:

    ·      Grammy Award winning Jazz musician Bill Laurence of Snarky Puppy
    ·      Commonwealth games handover 2022 televised event
    ·      Sheffield Oratorio Chorus
    ·      International Dance Festival Leicester (Lets Dance)
    ·      Sandwell Council
    ·      Bristol Harbour Festival
    ·      London Bridge Arts and Ideas Tap
    ·      T-Mobile’s Big Dance and Southwark Council
    ·      Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Arts
    ·      Arts Council England

    Awards and career highlights

    ·      Winning most promising Dancer x 5 times at International Dance Teachers Association competitions
    ·      First Black Female on the front cover of Dancing Times; UK’s leading Magazine for Dance

It would be a pleasure to work with you and the choir to produce an amazing show. Whether it will be African Sanctus or another show. I very much hope that you are interested in this exciting venture together.

    Kind Regards,

    Keisha Grant.
