Simonsbath

St. Luke's Church

On Saturday, 9th July, the Choir will make another trip to the Exmoor village of Simonsbath for a concert at St. Luke’s church. If the weather is warm and sunny it will be a complete contrast to the winter wonderland, replete with wedding cake landscapes that formed the backdrop for the setting of last year’s concert!  The concert on Saturday has been organised to raise funds for the Church. The village of Simonsbath is 1,250 feet high on the Exmoor national park, in the county of Somerset. The church was opened in 1856; it was built in early English style with lancet windows. It is a simple building with a 3 bay nave.  There is no tower but a slate hung, gabled bell-cote houses a single bell. It is furnished in plain mid-Victorian style with varnished pine fittings and an harmonium. Caldicot choristers can rest assured that there have been no recent, reported sightings of “The Beast of Exmoor”!
