Caldicot Male Voice Choir charity fund raising efforts in 2015 were focussed on obtaining a special purpose made bed for local 6 year old Annalese Gosling and supporting Newport based children’s charity, Sparkle based at the Serennu Centre in High Cross.  The Choir, with additional charity Gift Aid raised approximately £9000 and this was supplemented by Barclay’s Bank in Caldicot adding another £2000 through their charity fund matching scheme.

The specialised bed for Annalese was delivered earlier this year and she is, in her words ‘over the moon with it’.  This bed will ensure her security and help with her care and treatment.  The remainder was passed to Sparkle over the rest of the year to help with their efforts to support local children with learning, physical and social difficulties.

At a special presentation evening at the Choir Hall in Caldicot attended by Annalese and her family, a slide show was screened showing highlights of the fund raising activities during 2015.  These included a quiz night, an endurance cycle ride around Redwick, a St David’s Day concert, a marathon 210 mile cycle ride following the River Severn from its source back to the estuary at Caldicot, a golf tournament at the St Pierre Golf club and a table top sale.  The ceremony held at the Choir Hall in Caldicot finalised with the showing of specimen cheques to Annalese and the Choir, held up by fund raising organisers Tony Griffiths and Leon Jones with chairman, Mark Stocker, Choir president Michael Shere-Massey and Caldicot Male Voice Choir in attendance.  A special card written by Annalese touchingly thanked the Choir for all the help they have given her and her family.

Tribute and thanks must also go to the many supporters, too many to mention without whom, through their donations, hard work and commitment made these gifts possible.

The Choir’s fund raising efforts for 2016 are directed to raising funds to help The Motor Neurone Disease Association (South East Wales branch) and the National Eisteddfod at Abergavenny in August.
