Off to Oakford in Devon

St Peters Oakford

Next Saturday 1st August the Choir is going to St Peter’s Church in Oakford, North Devon near Tiverton for the first time.  Please make every effort to come.  It’s our first away concert in a while.

It is known that there has been a church on the present site since the 15th Century with the present tower dating back to that time. However the porch, nave, chancel and vestry only date from 1838. The tower houses eight bells, said to have exceptional tone, cast by Mears of London in 1825 and given to the church by the then rector, the Rev James Parkin. He also presented the organ, built by J R Mortimore of Tiverton, in 1841.

There’s a pub called The Red Lion but I don’t know if we’re going there afterwards.

Bus times are on the Members page and the dress code is Blazers and Greys.
